Be Thankful You Don’t Have These Plumbing Problems

Daniel Kedinger - Wednesday, December 17, 2014
Dripping faucets, running toilets and occasionally clogged drains are common plumbing problems nearly every homeowner faces. Unfortunately, these relatively easy and inexpensive problems may not be the only situations every homeowner experiences regarding plumbing. A plumbing system has the power to cause serious damage to your home and your bank account. Here are a couple of plumbing problems no one wants to experience:

Leaky Pipe

If a leaking pipe goes unnoticed, water saturation can cause major damage to a home’s integrity. A home’s exposure to water and dampness can lead to mold and the deterioration of structural support. This can lead to not only replacing the pipe, but also to the drywall or other costly structural materials. When factoring in labor and supplies, this problem may cost hundreds of dollars.

Broken or Clogged Drain Pipe

This is rarely a simple fix no matter where the drain pipe is broken: under the house, in a wall, underground. The cost of cleaning the sewage can sometimes be more expensive than the cost of repairing the pipe. This plumbing problem can lead to replacing sheetrock and potentially cause inhabitants of the home to have to relocate due to the sewage cleanup and other structural repairs. A clogged drain pipe can cause unwanted waste to backup into bathtubs and toilets, and if this is not noticed in a timely fashion, you have quite a mess on your hands.
