Don’t Get Caught in a Money Drain (Hire a Qualified Plumber)

Ace Plumbing - Tuesday, April 28, 2015
It is easy to be enticed by the cheaper option, especially in a slowing economy. However, we often find ourselves regretting the choice because the product doesn’t last nearly as long as its more expensive counterpart. Usually, the next action is purchasing the product that should have been purchased originally and you end up spending even more money in a vain attempt to save it.
When we need plumbing maintenance, we may be swayed by the cheaper deal. However, cheaper costs usually mean cheaper quality. As the saying goes, “You get what you pay for,” and in this case that is an unqualified and unlicensed “professional” performing shoddy fixes. This may mean you will end up spending more money for the service you should have originally purchased. Therefore, when researching which plumbing service to hire, consider this quality indicator so you save money in the long run:

Journeyman Plumber vs. Master Plumber

An individual with a Master Plumber’s License garners the best quality of service because this qualification comes with the most experience. mentions, “…only master plumbers are allowed to contract journeymen and apprentices to work under them, which can be one component of the difference between them and less skilled plumbing professionals.”

It is important to note the qualifications for Journeyman and Master Plumber vary from state to state.

According to the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana, “to qualify for the Journeyman Plumber examination, an applicant must have, at least five (5) years or 8,000 hours full-time experience in the plumbing trade.” To qualify for the Master Plumber examination “an applicant must hold a current Louisiana Journeyman Plumber License … with 5 years’ experience in the plumbing trade.”
A Master Plumber is required to be familiar with codes. Hiring an unlicensed plumber or a plumber with little to no experience may cause codes to be unintentionally violated, which could lead to risks for you and your family. Also, you could incur fines as a result of hiring an unlicensed plumber because of improper paperwork. So, the cheaper deal may cause more financial damage.

What are Ace’s Certifications?

Ace Plumbing is a certified Master Plumber company and licensed by both the state local governments. So when thinking about saving a buck, consider the unforeseen costs attributed to hiring a cheaper/ less qualified service.
